Hiking Kumano Kodo 5 days

Hi friends! I am one (maybe two people pending China/Japan visa) doing the Kumano Kodo from 7 September to 11 September, so 5 days. Flying into Tanabe Sept 6, out from Tanabe Sept 12. I know this is coming up fast, but accommodations seem mostly available thus far, and it’s been a bit of a last min decision traveling now from Central Asia. We are fit and experienced hikers, just piecing together the itinerary looking for quick guidance. 🙏

A few parts of the planning have been a bit unclear re: route and best stops along the way. We hope to walk the entire route and not take any buses besides the beginning and end.

The plan for the Nakahechi trail:

> Day 0: Tanabe, hostel booked

> Day 1: early bus to Takijiri, hike to Chikatsuyu / Nakahechicho (Guesthouse MUI?)

> Day 2: Hike to Hongu/Yunomine onsen area (stay at Ashita no Mori booked)

> Day 3: Hike to Koguchi / “Koguchi shizen-no-ie” area (stay at Cafe Sansaro)

> Day 4: Hike to Nachi Taisha / Daimonzaka

> Day 5: Hike to finish at Kii-Katsuura, to take the bus or train back to Tanabe. (Hostel booked in Tanabe)

> Day 6: Morning flight back to Tokyo

Any experiences or advice would be invaluable.

Thank you so much!
