Today is a full moon and so I decided to learn the name for it! I understand mangetsu 満月 is the most commonly used word for “full moon,” and I’ve [read](https://thetruejapan.com/how-to-say-moon-in-japanese/) that mochizuki 望月 is a “poetic” way of saying “full moon.” I was just wondering if anyone had any examples of how mochizuki 望月 can be poetically used in conversation (if used at all) so that I can understand it better. Thank you : )

Pretty much the only time you’re going to hear 望月 in conversation these days is if it’s referring to someone’s family name.
If someone is talking about the full moon, it’s essentially always going to be 満月.
