Is it possible to reserve 2 business hotel rooms next to each other?

I am looking to go to Tokyo in December with a friend. Although we’ve considered getting a larger room to share, I think that it might be more comfortable to get separate business hotel rooms instead. Cost wise it’s probably a bit more expensive but we’re okay with that.

The biggest question I had was if I book 2 rooms at the same time, is there a way to try and get them close together? Even if not next door, at least on the same floor? Do I have to call in to try and get this arranged beforehand? Or do business hotels not do this at all?

  1. You can try messaging them. When I traveled with my family our rooms were usually on the same floor. Never next to each other

  2. If you’re in the same hotel, does it matter that much to have rooms next to each other or on the same floor? You can figure out a place to meet regardless of where your rooms are especially if you’re staying in the same place. For reference, when my family came to visit we stayed at three different hotels (because of availability) and always found each other regardless. But being in the same hotel, I mean… is it that important to have rooms right next to one another?

  3. Unless the hotel is highly booked to the point there’s just a few rooms left dotted across multiple floors then logistically they would tend to put neighbouring rooms on a multiple room booking, when possible. You can of course contact the hotel and make this request, but it’s not something that’s normally possible through the online booking system.

  4. It really just depends. This type of thing is just on request. If you ask the hotel will try to put you near each other if possible but it really just depends on availability.

Like generally I can’t really pre-assign rooms until day of or close to it. If you’re lucky there will be two vacant rooms next to each other when you come to check in and they can honor your request or put you on the same floor etc.

But even not. I mean you don’t really hang out in a business hotel room anyways so it really doesn’t matter if you’re next door or even on the same floor. They’re kinda cramped for 1 person let alone two so it’s not like you’ll be looking to hang out with each other in your rooms. Just meet down at the lobby or just outside the hotel.

  5. Adjoining rooms would be an option, but I’ve found only a few hotels that offered them. Hilton, Karaksa, and Monteray hotel chains have some, for example.

  6. I don’t see why not.. just depends on if you can communicate with the staff there or not. Also, to be honest, unless you are making the reservation separately to begin with, most places I’ve been to will just put you in rooms next to each other if it was possible to begin with without you asking.

If you can speak Japanese and you can book well in advance i’d imagine this being very easy to do.

If you can’t then well.. results may vary.

  7. Anything is possible. You would have to call and ask, and then give them money if they agree to it. You know, like anything anywhere.
