I’ve seen a lot of past threads on using linux routers with NTT. I am attempting to do so. I am a technical person. But, I am stuck.
Does anyone have a working example?
Configuration – Linux ProtectLI router connected to an NTT fiber “modem”. I’ve signed up for both IPoE and PPPoE services w/ bb.excite and it worked previously on an ASUS router.
What I’m experiencing – basically no network traffic at all coming “downstream” from NTT. I’m sending IPv6 ra packets and DHCP packets. Nothing gets a response. I’m not getting any kind of a IPv6 address.
I don’t see any traffic at all until I turn on pppd. and even then it’s v4 only (as expected).
Any advice? I’ve researched and troubleshooted extensively. I don’t think having a v4 pppd connection up would be a pre-requisite to getting an IPv6 address.
I’ve also got a 5G modem from UQ and that is getting a v6 address and routes. Packets are forwarding over that interface, but I’m not getting any response back. So, I’m trying to figure that out too.

That is for OpenWRT which is what I assume you mean by “linux”
This does require usage of SSH however.
I am not familiar with bb.excite..do they typically put their own router in after the fiber modem? They might be performing some sort of authentication. Run a pcap and you can check any frames/packets received from your provider.
Were you ever able to get internet working on your router before? Just a guess based on the info you provided, but it seems your firewall rules might need to be tweaked.
