I rented a Toyota GR Yaris today from Toyota Rent. And basically I crashed it into an electrical pole that was on the side of the road (like right side of the white line). The car is probably totaled like they had to tow it and the gear box and axle seemed done too. It was a 30km/h zone which I didn’t go over. They didn’t make me pay anything because of the insurance but I’m wondering what the probable next steps will be? Has this happened to any of you? Do you have similar experiences with Toyota Rent? Thanks!

I got the double coverage insurance btw
You manage to total a car while driving at 30kmh ? I’m amazed.
You might be okay having paid for the no deductible insurance, but I assume you called the police right? (because rental companies all insist you do when you have a crash). Depending on the circumstances, you might get a follow up from the police for your driving.
Wow, I just saw a single car accident with a utility pole a few days ago in the Niigata inaka. I wonder how many of these happen a day.
The closest this happened to me was back in Canada and I fell asleep on the Coquihalla in BC at 120km/h on cruise control with a rental.
Bro I am surprised it would be totaled with you only driving 30kmph. Glad you’re okay though
Sorry for that but Btw how was the Yaris? Fun to drive? They’re always booked out when I try to get one. Have heard they are de-tuned for rental though, but not sure how true that is.
How did you manage to drive head on into a utility pole?
On the car part, rest easy; TR usually has robust coverage. If no upfront costs, chances are, the insurance has this under wraps. Just make sure to follow through with necessary paperwork (accident report, etc.). As for the utility pole, you might be on the hook for public property damage. I’d reach out to local municipality (ward office) ASAP. They’ll guide you on this. Remember to keep all correspondence documented, from both TR and the ward office.
TL;DR: You’re most likely completely good on the car. Worry about the electrical pole as that most likely took damage.
Sorry but Im having a hard time believing you werent driving like an ass. You rented a GR YARIS, first red flag, then you managed to damage it so bad it was no longer drivable while going 30km/hr?
So you rented a GR Yaris to go drifting and wrapped it around a utility pole? I am sure Toyota wont plug into the obd2 port and pull any data.
No more wangan for you
Not sure why you are tell us. Tell the insurance
