What happens to my taxes if I am working overseas for most of the year?

I am on HSP visa, been living and working in Japan for the past 6 years. I am about to ask my boss if I could work from my home country indefinitely due to personal reasons. We are mostly working remotely anyway, so my concern would be more on the administrative side.

I heard that there’s this 183 day rule to consider for taxes, but I don’t really understand what it means entirely. A few questions:

\- If I stay less than 183 days in Japan, what tax or non-tax issues could I encounter?

\- Is there a way to keep things (taxes, immigration, etc.) as though I am still working *in* Japan?

\- In case I de-register myself from the ward (i.e., no address in Japan), how would it help or complicate my tax payments?

\- Anything else I should consider?

Thank you!
