Do things like late gym payments effect PR applications?

Looking to apply via spouse route soon. However a couple months ago I forgot to top up my JP post account and i had a late payment. It has happened a couple times in the years but i always just went and gave them cash swiftly, or paid via an email they would send.

Is this problematic? I have read a lot of denials due to varies “late payment” however I’m not sure if this is limited only to gov related functions like taxes and insurance or pensions.

  1. Yes. You will need to provide evidence of 2 years of on time payment of your gym membership. Also they will want a certificate from Netflix to make sure you’re not sharing your Netflix account too.

  2. The government has oversight on where you would expect, so if it’s not a government institution I wouldn’t worry about it.

Officially they care the most about Pension, Health Insurance, and Taxes (both residential + federal). They also care about your salary – I don’t think annual salaries under 3,000,000 JPY can be approved, but in reality they like to see you make as much as possible.

It’s between you and the government, as long as there’s nothing like a court record I think you’re fine.
