Post-WWII Japanese History Documentary

Hey all,

So I’m working on my Masters Thesis in Political Science which is covering Japanese politics between the Tokugawa era and now. I have worked out the thesis up until the end of WWII but I realized that I could use another modern Japanese history resource a lot of my sources are is focused on specific events or ideas without actually providing an over arcing history of Japan in the Post War era. It any one could recommend documentary that would be really appreciated. Here are the criteria for what I’m looking for:

1. A documentary. Yes I know books are better but I already have around twenty-five 300-500 page books that I’m citing including 5 Japanese history texts and I want to add variety to my sources. Also if I’m being honest I’m tired of reading.

2. History based. I know there are plenty of great documentaries about Japanese culture those don’t offer the overarching look at history that I need. More focused documentaries are fine so long as the cover major events like the MacArthur years, lost decade, economic miracle ect. Or if they cover major political issues of the modern era.

3. Post-WWII focused subject matter. There is honestly WAY too many documentaries about WWII and not enough on the post war era

4. English accessible. I speak a little Japanese but not well enough to follow a historical documentary. I am perfectly happy with documentary from Japan or in Japanese as long as it has English subs.

Thanks for any help you can provide
