Tech store in haneda?

Hey everyone, Im going home to visit family in 2 weeks and my sony 1000xm3 have served me well over the last 6 years but they have seen better days and battery life is down to about 2 hours before going dead. Ive been looking at the xm5 overears as a replacement but im wondering if they have a tech store in the airport? if they do is it really that much of a saving?

Also, are the xm5’s worth the hefty price tag for those who already own them? will i notice alot of difference as a mini audio snob?

  1. The Tokyo Souvenir shop has some electronic stuff like appliances and possibly have headphones, but for the specific ones you are looking for I dunno. Personally I think your best bet would be to check out kakaku dot com to find out the cheapest available and proceed that way. In my experience buying in Akihabara or online via kakaku is cheaper than buying at the airport. I dont own them but have heard nothing but good things about them. As soon as my airpod pros die I will bite the bullet and go for them.

  2. I have them. Upgraded from Mark 4 but wasn’t blown away. Never owned the M3s so can’t compare to those. One minor detail is that the case is kind of clunky – I like the case of the M4 much better.

  3. For what it’s worth, I found that headphones (and other electronics) were marked up quite a bit at the airport last time I was there, even after your “duty free” tax savings you’re paying more then regular retail

  4. You still have two weeks, better buy them off Amazon or Yodobashi, or also consider secondhand (like from eイヤホン) if you don’t mind pre-owned products.

I own the XM4s, and I prefer them over the XM5s because the XM4s fold down more compactly. The XM5 headband doesn’t fold (like Apple AirPod Max), and it feels cumbersome to carry in a bag. NC aside I don’t feel like I’m missing anything in terms of audio quality.
