Where can I find stamps at stations

Heya!

Not sure if this is allowed, apologies if not!
I’ve been here for over a year and finally got a stamp book yesterday (collected my first stamp at Haneda today). We’ve been staying in Tokyo but I can’t seem to find the stamps at the stations around here.
I saw the one at Shimbashi a few weeks ago but that’s it. Does anyone know the exact locations for some or have a guide handy?

Thanks in advance!

  1. Look around the exit gates, either inside or outside. Some stations have you ask at the office; others simply do not have them at all.

Most of the Yamate/Yamanote Line stations should have them somewhere.

As for maps, you can try [this one](https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=1g2xWI9M2x1mbPg5g6iH8MAY4qg8&hl=ja&ll=35.61941129677869%2C138.67815573829438&z=9), but it seems to only show some stations that *have* stamps, rather than where exactly in the station they are. Similarly, [this page](http://stamp.otimusya.com/jreast.html#:~:text=JR%E6%9D%B1%E6%97%A5%E6%9C%AC%E3%80%81%E6%9D%B1%E4%BA%AC%E6%94%AF%E7%A4%BE%E3%81%AE,%E6%95%B0%E3%81%A0%E3%81%91%E3%80%81%E7%99%BA%E8%A6%8B%E3%81%8C%E3%81%82%E3%82%8B%E3%80%82) shows 77 Tokyo-area stations that *have* stamps, but doesn’t seem to have details on where in the station they are.

Private railways line (and JR東日本) also have periodic ‘stamp rallys’, usually during school holiday times: you can see these advertised on posters at stations and publicized in sundry train fan Web sites.

It’s probably easiest to simply walk up to the station office (with your stamp book visible if your Japanese is not the best) and ask for where the stamp is.

  2. I’ve seen a lot in roadside stations by the vending machines, but that’s probably now where you are looking for.

Akita station has one near the ticket gates if you ever end up there.

  3. If they’re not at one exit, they’ll be at another. Larger stations with a みどりの窓口 (service office) will often have them in there. At the moment (although almost finished…I think) there are a few summer stamp rallies on the go. Often they move the regular stamp to avoid confusion. You can usually just ask for it at the ticket window.

  4. Try near the ticket machines, where the staff’s kiosk is near the ticket gates, etc.

Gotta hunt for them, man 🙂

  5. You should visit Shinagawa JR Station. When we went stamp hunting before covid, their stamps were kept behind one of their back office, and there were probably a dozen of different designs.
