  1. At this point I’m in agreement with charging every climber at least 3000yen and using it to open up new routes or widen the ones that exist now. Hell I’m even OK with building some kind of round trip cable car system for those who don’t care about climbing and just want to take some photos from the top

  2. Saw something on Japanese TV this past week about hiking up Fuji. In many of the narrow sections, it’s literally not even hiking, it’s take a step up, wait a minute, take your next step up.

    Really changing my view on climbing it with my son. Maybe during the next global pandemic that shuts down international travel we’ll make the drive up there and climb it. But with the overflowing tourists, I’ll pass. There are other hikes to be made in Japan.
