My circle of friends are mainly people who like anime so going to Akihabara is something I do often. But in my 5 years living in Tokyo, I still haven’t been to a maid cafe. And the stories I hear again and again about having overpriced tasteless food makes me wanna go less lol. I still will plan to go at least once if I ever decide to move out of Japan.
Other than that, probably a Sumo wrestling match.
How about you?

Okinawa. Been meaning to go but just haven’t found the time!
Disneyland. My family wants to go. I dread the trip. Been avoiding it for years.

I think I’ve been to every prefecture south of Ibaraki and not a single one north of it.
10 years, no maid cafe either and no interest.
Also never ascended Tokyo Tower or the SkyTree (but I love the Shinjuku Gov Building Obesrvation deck and the Mori Tower Observation deck).
Never been to USJ.
Still haven’t been to Himeji castle. For Japan’s most famous castle, it’s in a pretty random place.
Lived here 10 years and never been to Osaka lol

Tsukiji market
I have even had a few guests to stay who went…
Lmao 7 years in and no love hotel – does that count?
Universal Studio, because it’s just there and I ain’t queueing for 3 hours for a 3 minute ride.
The day I arrived in Japan my host family asked where I wanted to go, and I said the only thing I knew about Japan at the moment- Hiroshima.
23 years later and I still haven’t been. The city anyway, I’ve been to the prefecture
The vast majority of Tokyo.
I’ve never stayed anywhere near Mt. Fuji, and have only really seen it from the Shinkansen, and a couple of other FAR away places (one of them being Suwa in Nagano prefecture, where I used to live).
Edit: I just remembered that I did go to Fuji-Q Highlands, which I suppose is quite near. That said, I would still like to make an overnight stay in the area at some point.
Yep, maid cafe for me as well. I’ve considered it quite a few times – going alone, going with friends, going with my girlfriend … but in the end, I’ve always arrived at the conclusion that I’d rather do something else. I would only do it because it’s something you’re expected to do if you’re in Japan, and I have no true interest in it anyway.
Ishigaki and the Ogasawara Islands.
I’ve never been to Kyoto, I might have alighted, but never visited.
Hokkaido and Okinawa. Want to go but would need to sort a pet sitter 🤷♀️
Aren’t sumo wrestling matches surprisingly hard to get tickets for? If that’s the case I really don’t blame the majority of people for not getting a chance to go
Takanawa Gateway Station.
I’ve never been to Odaiba.
Every famous location that doesn’t have public transit.
One day I’ll go to Gifu to the knife fair. I don’t need any knives and my wife has zero interest in Gifu, but it’s a bucket list thing.
Sapporo
14 years in Tokyo today. Have never been in a Hub.
3 years living in Sapporo and never went to Hakodate. Now I moved out a couple years ago and will probably have to wait a couple more till I can go to Hakodate 🙁
15+ years in Osaka. I still haven’t been to Hokkaido, Yokohama, or Tokyo Disneyland.
TeamLab Planets, on account of it sucking!
Torikizoku.
Yoshinoya or any other beef bowl chain.
Never tried Strong Zero.
Kichi Kichi Omurice, maid cafes, Disney Land/Sea, Mt. Fuji, Hiroshima Atomic Bomb Dome, Tokyo Dome
Too many to count and I just listed things off the top of my head
