Parking ticket violation

Does any one here know what to do after receiving a parking violation ticket,?
Should i go directly to the police box ?
Will my license point be deducted for it?
The ticket says the car is abandoned.
I’m scared because it’s my first time to have this violation and surprised also since i have my car parked in that spot for more than a year now .
Please it would be helpful if anyone could answer with the same experience.

  1. I heard you should never go to the police to pay the ticket because they’ll also deduct points. Instead, pay it at the post office because you won’t lose points. Never had a ticket myself, so can’t confirm, but it’s what I’ve read on here. Seems like a totally idiotic system, so it definitely seems believable.

Not sure if it’s the wording on your sentence, but if a cops sees a car parked in the street at the same spot for a year without moving, it wouldn’t surprise me they’d ticket.

The general consensur to pay the fine is to go to post office to avoid losing points if I recall

  3. That sounds like those guys in green outfits not the police .. that’s why it’s an abandoned car violation .. You need to wait and it will come in the mail but it’s not any points on your license.

  4. Go to the post office and pay it ASAP.

If you pay at the police station, they will ask you to present your license to assign 2 points to it (or identify the person who parked the vehicle so that THEY can get the points).

The post office staff cannot assign points.

  5. I’m going to guess that a local person didn’t like you parking in front of their house all the time so they called the police to report your car. Japanese people only park in front of their own homes or they pay for a spot.

Is that **your** parking spot? I’m sure that you’re aware that when you buy a car in Japan you’re required to get a 車庫証明 (certificate indicating that you have a parking spot). It is illegal to park outside in the street.

As long as you’re parking in your spot you shouldn’t be fined, regardless of how long or how often your car has been there.
