Hello, I’m Japanese. Here are some suggestions for the west of Japan.
1. You want to include Fushimi Sake District on your day for Fushimi Inari and Nara as it’s along the way. You then add Nishiki Market to your Gion day as it’s pretty close to each other.
2. There’s no point of going back to Kyoto after visiting Hiroshima especially because you are going further down to Fukuoka the following day. Stay at Hiroshima. It makes more sense time and cost wise.
3. I would skip Nagasaki if I were you although I like Nagasaki. Exploring Fukuoka is worth a day or two since it’s a city for foodies. If you have zero interest in food, forget it.
4. I would stop by Kobe and spend a half day or so on the way to Osaka from Kyushu if I were you. You can keep your luggage in a coin locker at Shin Kobe Station. I then would give a half to full day for the aquarium and Sky Building another day.
5. You are spending quite plenty of time in Osaka, which I like because I love the city. However, if you have this much time in Osaka, I would recommend having a day trip to Nara here. Maybe, daytime on your pub crawl day? That way, you will have more time in Kyoto, which I assume you will probably want to have. And if you ever decide to do that, I would recommend visiting Higashiyama or Kifune/Ohara in Kyoto. I love Kifune/Ohara. It’s much less busy and a lot more nature.
Let me know your thoughts. 🙂
