Will I look weird with a Japanese school bag? Should I switch bag?

For school I’ve been using a bag from persona 5 that is a Japanese school bag
I am moving to japan to study at a language school and I don’t have any other school bag. I want to continue using my persona 5 bag that is a copy of a Japanese school bag but I am worried it might look really weird, in England it’s fine cause no one knows what it is, but in Japan they know and it would be weird for a foreigner to have one and not be in high school, I assume. (I am 18 and still look studentish)
Would you suggest I switch bag?

  2. I’m not aware of any standard high school book bags that students use. Elementary students use something that was copied off dutch ransels. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randoseru](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randoseru) I’d expect anyone who isn’t an elementary school student would look strange using one of these as their regular backpack.

Is that what you’ve got? Or have you got some normal bag?

  3. I’m assuming it’s one of those briefcase looking bags, in which case I imagine you’ll be fine. If it’s the domed elementary schooler ones, I’d probably feel a little self conscious.

  4. I have the same one, was part of the limited edition back then, right? I see it mostly worn by high school age teens but I’ve also seen grown ups use these kind of bags at times. Either way, no weird looks.

  5. I looked up what you’re talking about. You should be fine. I don’t think anyone will think anything of it here.

  6. I’ve never seen anyone carrying the bag you have. I googled the brand you mentioned. Is this some anime thing?

  7. You are going to a language school, if it is like mine, you won’t be even close to be the weirdest. No one would care, teachers would say that your bag is cool and that’s it. Enjoy the student life in Japan!

  8. Lots of high schools that have uniforms also have a standardized book bag that their students use. Not all, but it’s not uncommon. It’s also not standardized across schools. Similar, perhaps, but not standardized. And of course each one will have the school logo on it.

Is it weird that you have a wanna-be Japanese high school bag when you’re not Japanese, not in Japan, and not even in high school? Yeah, a bit. Is anyone likely to care? Nope.
