Where to store boxes/bags?

I find myself in between housing atm for various reasons. I have 10 days during which I need somewhere to store my bags (on the cheap preferably). I have 2 large suitcases and 1 medium sized cardboard box.

I am in Tokyo area.

Would appreciate any suggestions! Thank you

  1. ship them to your new location and set delivery date 10 days in the future. kuroneko/sagawa can set delivery date up to 2 weeks in advance.

edit: if you don’t know your future location but know the approximate area, you can do a 営業所止置 service, where you keep them at a delivery office nearby (but you’ll need to pick them up yourself) – https://faq.kuronekoyamato.co.jp/app/answers/detail/a_id/1448/ for yamato, sagawa has something similar too.

Anyway, it will likely be much cheaper than a storage room or etc

  2. I would go talk to a Yamato office. IIRC they typically will hold items for 7 days after a failed delivery, and explaining your plight at the office might convince them to send it later. Or it’s possible they have a service that will delivery 2 weeks later. Either way they can probably help you work something out.

  3. Post office will let you specify a delivery date up to ten days out, so I would just mail them to yourself.

  4. Where are you staying where you can’t bring them with you? Are you homeless for those 10 days? (This isn’t meant to be snarky if it comes across that way btw)

  5. Mail them to your new location. Or get a hotel on the day before move-in day and mail it there if you’re worried you wont be in by then.
