Itinerary check 21 days in Japan Nov-Dec
Hi all,
I was wanting some advice on my current planned itinerary for Japan, and any recommendations/advice. We specifically need advice on whether the 14 day JR pass will be worth it for us.
Currently our plan is:
-22nd Nov: Arrive into Tokyo for the first night and then fly straight to Sapporo on same night
-22nd- 27th Nov Stay in Sapporo and travel around ( we have no specific plans for Sapporo as we do just want to spend the first few days of our trip relaxing & enjoying the city)
-27th nov Fly to Osaka and stay for three nights
-28th Nov travel around Osaka & check out local food & coffee
-29th planning on going to Hiroshima for a day trip
-30th Nov train to Kyoto and stay for two nights
-1st Dec Planning on going to Nara for a day trip
2nd Dec Kyoto to Tokyo via train and staying in Tokyo for 5 nights – sight seeing etc etc
7th Dec tokyo to Mt Fuji for 1 night (specific accomodation means this unfortunately is the only date we can chose as the place we have been wanting to go is booked out all other nights)
8th Dec train back to Tokyo
9-12th Dec we will be travelling around Tokyo, we specifically will want to check out shibuya & Shinjuku, we have a perfume making class & ring making class we plan on doing too
13th December train to Nairita airport & fly home
Our main concern is whether or not a 14 day JR pass from 29th Nov – 13thDec would be worth it. This would be when all of our major train travel would be, but we are unsure of how much we would use the JR pass in Tokyo. Any suggestions or comments would help. We also have to do this before the prices go up in October if we do choose it.
Any other recommendations such as cities/provinces, activities, restaurants and any hidden gems would be amazing as I’m not really sure of the best way to plan this right now.
Thanks!!!!

You can use a site like this to see if the JR Pass is worth it:

At a glance, the main benefit you get is from using the Shinkansen, so you won’t get that much value using the local trains in Tokyo in your last few days
