You’ll just have to apply through, and interview at, a consulate in Canada
https://jetprogramme.ca/eligibility/
You’d have to get to a Canadian consulate for the interview
As an addition, you would not only have to interview in Canada but fly from there too. Going through a similar situation now
Also doing this right now. You also need to get a criminal record check in the country that you currently reside in.
It’s best to ask the Japanese consulate in Canada – I was in the same boat and the embassy in my home country was accommodating enough to allow me to send everything via email and do the interview via video call. Spoiler: I was accepted and heading to Japan in August!
Hi, I was in the same situation as you too. You can apply remotely to the Japanese consulate in Canada! It doesn’t matter if you’re living in Canada currently, as long as you have an address in Canada when applying and are able to attend the interview in person (I did my interview remotely due to covid).
