  1. It’s average in my opinion. Free withdrawals from 7-11 ATMs are only between 7am and 7pm. The debit card is JCB not VISA so I couldn’t get it work abroad. There are not any free bank transfers. You cannot receive incoming bank transfers from abroad using SWIFT. They do have English support but it has been killed off in their apps, and is website only now. The one good thing it you can use the app the get cash out without your card.

I would recommend Sony bank or Shinsei bank if you need English support (I have all three though)

  2. I use 2 other banks for my savings, but I use seven bank exclusively for my debit card. I actually make about 4000~ yen back in spendings through nanaco every few months using the card exclusively so that’s nice. I’d say generally speaking, as a debit card exclusive you can’t really ask for too much more. For international transfer and so on, I recommend Wise + a different bank.

  3. I like it because it has the most ATMs. Literally every seven eleven has one and most metro train stations too.

Also they have an english website and english support. Said website can do transfers with ease.

They also have a JCB debit card which can earn you nanaco points. I earned like 20000 yen worth of points last year alone.

It’s basically as good as it gets in terms of being foreigner-friendly in Japan.

  4. It’s perfectly fine. New app is okay, definitely better than the previous one. In combination with Nanaco also quite convenient. 7-11 network for ATM is also quit decent for Japanese standards. E.g. you can find one in any not too small town and at some train stations. Setup was also very easy.
