Does anyone have any experience of working at an NGO in Japan? I recently applied and interviewed for a role with a Japanese branch of an international NGO, and judging from correspondence from the interviewer I may be considered further.
However, I have only done one short-term internship with a different NGO in Tokyo before which was unpaid, so I am not sure what to expect in terms of salary (assuming low), working hours (assuming long) and benefits. Does anyone have any insights? I am passionate about this NGOs cause but I ideally don’t want to take a huge pay cut (I make around 3 million yen a year but I live in the countryside and it stretches far).
Thank you so much!

From my experience with NGOs, I don’t think you’d take a huge pay cut. But I don’t think you will get much of a raise either.
On the other hand, different NGOs may vary. I have experience with only one Japanese NGO.
