Hi all! I’m travelling to northern Kyushu next month, and the last thing left to book is transport.
I’m currently planning on renting a car from Kumamoto and returning it in Aso before continuing on by bus, but I’m not sure how many days I will want to have a car for around Aso and Kurokawa Onsen. My current itinerary is:
Day 1: Rent car in Kumamoto, day trip to Takachiho, stay in Gokase
Day 2: Day in Aso, stay in Minamiaso
Day 3: Day in Aso, stay in Kurokawa Onsen
Day 4: Day in Kurokawa Onsen, stay in Kurokawa Onsen
Day 5: Bus to Yufuin
I see my options as a. Return car midday on day 3 and book the bus to Kurokawa Onsen; b. Return car on the morning of day 4 and book the bus back to Kurokawa Onsen, or; c. Return car on day 5 and book the bus to Yufuin.
For those who have been before, will I want to have a car for the entirety of my stay in Aso and Kurokawa Onsen? Or will 1 1/2 days with a car be enough for Aso, so I don’t have to stress about returning the car? Thanks for the help!
