Part time masters in AI/Machine Learning

Hello, I’m currently working in Japan as a software engineer (work is remote). Thinking of doing a masters in AI/Machine Learning for a potential slight career change in the future. I do have an undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering, GPA was a little above average. Is it a better bet to find a university outside of Japan or inside Japan? And what are some universities that come to mind?

  1. Hands down the best bang for your buck is GA Tech’s OMSCS program. It is fully online and doesn’t require the GRE. Plus, it is dirt cheap – around 7K USD for the whole program, which is a top 10 program. You should be a shoo in for admissions with your background.

There is a group of current and former students here in Japan – come join us!

Edit: Feel free to DM if you have any questions not answered on the program website.

  2. The GRE is the pain in the ass requirement for grad school. I managed to waive mine because I had high undergrad GPA and also wasn’t trying to get a scholarship.

  3. UC Berkeley, Johns Hopkins, U of Illinois, and Columbia are other schools that offer part time masters in AI/ML/DS. I didn’t need to submit the GRE for berkeley or JHU.
