Recently, I have initiated a large SWIFT transfer from Bank of America to JPPostBank. On Friday I received a letter asking me what I would do with the money and asking for additional documentation, which I provided and mailed on Saturday. It is now Monday evening and my realtor has told me money is due for my apartment downpayment on Thursday. For people who have received an international remittance to Japan via JP Post Bank, do we think my money will clear in time or should I look into alternatives? Thank you 🙂

I can’t really help with SWIFT sorry (hopefully someone else chimes in) but I used Wise for the same purpose and it took exactly 22 minutes. I would definitely recommend you use a service like wise and not a traditional international transfer next time
I once used Jp bank to for international remittance (sending to the US). whole process almost took 2 weeks.
Had to actually go to the branch office to fill out forms, and after a few days they requested additional documents to prove the relationship between me and the person I was sending money to.
A painfully slow process, which saw me switch to Sony bank, much easier to deal with and all processes are done online.
would also highly recommend a money transfer service like wise
