Hey Guys im currently for a year in Japan on a working holiday visa
Im planning on moving to Osaka very soon and have checked sharehouses and talked to some on the rather cheap end and there are 2 that would accomodate me rather quickly however they are near Himejima Sta. and the other is on the south end of Osaka close to Yata Sta.
Im a bit lost if ill be happy with that especially because i wont be able to leave a sharehouse after a month should it not fit me right?
Im not sure if i should not just pay like 10-20000 Yen more per month to have a place closer to the city center
I don’t mind my surroundings being quiet but i also like to run around the city and meet random people to talk to and drink with and i don’t know if i will be too far away from that kinda life to enjoy my stay there?
Do you guys have any advice maybe also recommendations as to where in Osaka to live?
Thanks a lot in advance

What is your budget OP? As I feel like sharehouses aren’t really needed in most parts of Osaka (compared to Tokyo atleast) As someone who spent a few weeks searching for an apartment here’s what I’ve found out.
The best part of Osaka for me was the affordability and how *new* the apartments are typically compared to Tokyo.
You can easily find places going for 60k yen or below that have been build in the last 10 years.
Personally, I’d recommend areas that are roughly 15 minutes away from Namba station.
I’ve got a lease for a place in northern Sakai (roughly 15 minutes or so away from Namba station) that was build 5 years ago and is super modern and within a 2 minute walk from the closest main station with a bunch of shops and lowkey restaurants nearby.
I’d recommend Sakaihigashi Station personally! I think it has a much more of a local/lowkey vibe and lets you be somewhat outside of the main city centre but allows you very easy access to Namba station to get to whatever you want outside of Osaka.
