Hi Folks,
I am trying to apply for PR (myself and spouse) using HSP (70 points) route and I am using a law firm for this. As a part of documents preparation, I am wondering if anybody encountered problem with proving their job experience. Although I have all the experience letters that have details like period of employment, job designation etc., I am wondering if we need job description in these letters?
I am of the opinion that job designation and the company points to the nature of the job but lawyer is asking for the job description to be present for better chances of PR approval. I am not sure if I can get the letters again with these descriptions as I don’t know anybody to contact (old contacts moved out to various other companies/projects including the manager) and I doubt if they will entertain these requests.
Any suggestion in this regard is appreciated. Thanks!

This is just one data point, but I did not have to provide any description. Just company name, my position, DOB, join date, leave date are enough.
Your law firm should be able to answer that question. I used a lawyer when I applied for PR and he did all the paperwork. I just provided whatever documents and information he needed for the application. You just need to let them know if there’s something they requested that you can’t provide.
I submitted signed letters from all the companies I worked at with dates of employment and a job title, without any additional info or granular description, sort of like “We confirm that this guy worked here from then to then in this and that role”, and it was sufficient.
Isn’t the whole reason you paid for a lawyer is to ask questions like this?
I got PR through points 3 years ago. I didn’t have a lawyer. I just gave print outs of the offer letters. There wasn’t much info except for the job title, company name, and salary. Luckily I’ve used the same email address since college and I don’t delete emails. Anyway, I had no trouble.
Your company documents that the lawyer got should be sufficient. Especially if you got the points and have the finances in order. It seems the immigration officials are looking for your tax payment, pension payment and whether or not you’re making enough money.
FYI, I got my company to write up a 在職証明書 and the last 3 years of 源泉徴収票. No questions back from immigration aside for more tax payments history going back to a full five years.
I just applied two weeks ago for HSP and got it 2 days ago.for my job in England they wrote a brief job description, but for my jobs in Japan they did not write job description and they accepted the documents.
However I had more than 80 points from other sources, so I am unsure if they accepted everything I submitted or some did not go through, they do not disclose it, which is kind of annoying.
Btw, they were confused about the documents, which ones were which, including the experience, although for me were very obvious.
I recommend you add page where you write and itemized list of your work experience and what document they have to refer to
