Can a dependent Visa holder work outside Japan?

Hey all,

Sorry I searched a lot about this topic, but couldn’t find a proper answer,

So myself hold a Engineer Visa in Japan since 2 years and recently my Wife also got dependent Visa who worked in my home country.

The plan was to resign her job and move to Japan, but recently she got another compelling job offer from Europe and we both decided to go for that opportunity and later she will move to Japan after 1 or 2 years. But we would like to keep her dependent Visa and visit me in Japan every 6 months or less which will also keep the Visa active, buy my concerns are below,

1. Is it okay to keep Dependent Visa while she works & earns at another country?
2. Since she is recorded as a dependent to me, I might be getting some Tax advantage in japan, does it affect any legal issue? (As per record she does not have any job/income in Japan)

Appreciate your help

  1. Unless you’re from a country that requires a visa to visit Japan, I don’t see a point of keeping residents status. She’ll have to pay into nhi, pension and other taxes. With a dependent visa she also cannot make more than a x% of your income.

Idk about the legality of working out of country.
