Lost Embarkation Card

Hi all, I’m a student in Japan and I’ve been out of Japan for a month. I have somehow lost the embarkation card that was stapled into my passport when I left Japan, and which I’d usually give to the immigration officer when I arrive back in Japan. Is this a problem? I have my residence card.

  1. You’ll probably be met with some sucking of teeth and have to quickly fill out a fresh one. But they’ve got everything in their computer these days and its all tied into your residence card and to a lesser extent your passport. So it shouldn’t be more than a few minutes worth of drama.

  2. This is a non-issue. You will just need to fill out a new one. The forms don’t have serial numbers, and your departure card has already been scanned. It won’t cause you any problems.
