Hi, Is it allowed to bring 5% Benzoyl Peroxide acne wash through customs when arriving in Japan? I’ve heard it is banned in Japan, but does this mean I am not allowed to bring it with me?
I was able to order a couple of bottles 1.5 year ago from the American Amazon and it did pass the customs just fine. AFAIK benzoyl peroxide is sort of a prescription drug in Japan (I wasn’t able to find it over the counter). You can always go see your local dermatologist and get the prescription, it’s not a big deal.
Yes most of the time it is allowed. I know a lot of people who bring a lot liquids of some sort. However they put it checked-in luggage. It is safer that way.
You can buy proactiv at vending machines here, so it’s not a banned product, just that it’s a “quasi-drug” medicinal product.
I’ve brought 10% BP in every time I travel from the US (like 5-6 tubes) without issue.
