Living high above a restaurant in Tokyo? Bugs? Noise?

Hi guys, I’m looking in the apartment that’s on the 8th floor above a café, does anyone have any experience with living above a restaurant here? It’s super nice, but my friend was telling me that you could get rodents and roaches. I feel like it’s pretty high up for that and noise though, and I feel like places are pretty clean here.

  2. I live above a Chinese restaurant and no noise or bugs. The Main Street and busy road is what bothers me, pollution and noise. If you’re not on the ground you’re probably fine, especially if it’s just a cafe

  3. I live on the 5th floor of a building with a bunch of cafes and bars on the street below me. I see mice all the time and roaches occasionally at street level, but never in the building and definitely not on my floor. I think basically the apartment manager does a really thorough job of keeping the garbage room tidy and addressing any bug issues as soon as they come up.

I actually viewed a tower mansion on like the 30th floor and there were loads of cicada corpses on the balcony. One suicided onto the window as the agent was showing off the balcony. That never happens on my (much lower floor) apt…

  4. It’s Tokyo, no matter where you live you might encounter roaches or other pests. All you can do is play with the parameters to change the odds but it’s never going to be 0%
