Has anyone else had trouble securing tickets a month in advance to the Ghibli Museum? I woke up at 9:30am in preparation for the ticket release at 10:00am but after waiting for hours (multiple times) I kept getting 404 errors in my browser and was not able to get any tickets. Anyone else have a similar experience?
Does anyone know of other options to secure tickets a month from now? Is there a secondary market or a place to book tours with a guide who was lucky enough to get a few tickets that they would sell?

It’s normal, it’s famous and popular.
I’ve never had issues with the l-tike website, but if you have issues with it, you could use skip the website and just buy the tickets directly from the Loppi machine.
Yeah it took me like 3 months of trying before we finally got them. It’s a pain.

Use the Japanese site with a VPN. Have several credit and debit cards available to try until one of them works. I tried 5 cards and almost gave up. My 6th card worked (TD debit card).
Pay on the site and pick them up at Lawson – don’t pick pay at the counter, it will only give you 48 hours.
Use your hotel address. If your phone number doesn’t work, or your email, try someone else’s. If the address is giving you trouble, use any address you can find in Japan.
You’ll need to input the phone number and confirmation number at the Lawson ticket machine to print them out.
Assuming you’re not in Japan–you’ll need to buy it once you’re in Japan or use a VPN
You don’t need a VPN just buy from Lawson online.
