How to deal with gap between n3 and n2?

Hi all Japanese learners!

I’ve just passed n3 this summer and my teacher wanna start preparations for n2 but I feel I’m not ready. Also when I studied for n3 I had some problems especially with amount of grammar points. Do you have any recommendations what to do just before n2 preps? I’m mom of 4yo boy which is full of energy and my study time is kind of limited. Please share tips which are working the best for you!

  1. Focus on what your weak point is. I may not be of much help but I hope I can at least give some kind of advice

  2. Use every spare minute you have to study. I personally made a plan on when to study and what to look at (e.g. 10min a day for new grammar, 10min to review old grammar, 10min vocab, 10min listening etc.). But I know that doesn’t work for everyone and with a child it’s certainly challenging to find the time. But I’d say don’t forget to enjoy the process and find things that are both fun and educational (e.g. watching jap. Netflix). Passing the JLPT is not the end goal – having fun with the language is.

  3. Biggest jump in skill for me was when I dropped learning and just read. Do extensive and intensive reading. Reading stuff that you are comfortable with: such as simple manga to build your reading skills. Read harder novels and look up each words you don’t understand. Mixing these 2 together has been super powerful for me. This has also helped with my listening skill too, as having the knowledge activated makes it easier to catch things. I deleted anki too.

For reading there is an addon called yomichan, just add that to your browser and it you can hop over words to check definition. Use Ttsu reader to read. This is a very good [guide](https://learnjapanese.moe/) to get started with immersion actually.
