Watch you for scammers pretending to be from GaijinPot

They message you, want to offer some part time job, but then they must know your age (over 24, why?), remuneration would be with cheques (who uses that?) etc. etc. pretty shady if you ask me.

Also initial contact insists on handing you over to another “recruiter”.

Initial contact is from a business account, but I’ve no clue if that’s anyhow reliable.

  1. Yep, I just got one today. It’s called a job/task scam. They also pretend to be indeed.com, Robert Walters, etc.

I’m having fun scam-baiting one of them, if you’re curious how the scam works. But the Gaijinpot person is next 😈

When in doubt, ask for a LinkedIn account. Every legitimate recruiter has a LinkedIn account!

    Stay safe, everyone!

  2. I followed up on one of these scams, passing from the “recruiter” to the “task owner” and it seemed to be a combination of money laundering and brushing.

The proposed action was for me to share my bank account information; they would send money to the account, which I would use to purchase specified products from specified online retailers, and leave ghostwritten reviews on their web sites.

Recently I’ve seen these purporting to com from Robert Walters, en Japan, Indeed, and other well-known recruitment agencies.

Spoofed phone numbers from California, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia seem common, but the grammar and vocabulary all seem to be Indian.

  3. I got one purported from gaijinpot. When they asked my age I said I was 13 and would they like to see my pussy. I got a brief “sorry”.
    Guess that worked

  4. Got one through WhatsApp this weekend. Rarely ever use that app so it startled me a bit. Spoofed number from Indonesia.

  5. A couple days ago I got a phone call from a hidden number pretending to be from “LinkedIn support”, and asking if I was looking for a job. The guy was speaking in Japanese, but he had a strong Chinese accent. I told him I knew he was a scammer and I hung on him.
