Price of brake pad replacement? (or where to get the cheap tools)

Yellowhat and Autobacs website seems to suggest it’s ¥6000 in labor PER wheel…which just seems insane since you should always do at least two wheels at a time.

Is this right? How much did you pay?

Back in the US I would just do it myself, but I also had a cheap ratchet set (walmart) and could borrow a caliper clamp from an auto store for free (or just hold it with a crow bar the old fashion way). For both left and right front wheels, one hour of work max as an inexperienced amateur.

  1. Straight Tools and Astro Products is Japanese Harbor Freight. Monotaro is Japanese Rockauto (plus much more for a whole bunch of different industries, and they have their own line of tools that are equivalent in quality and price to the above two.).

You can also look for a レンタルガレージ, most places will provide a set of tools to borrow with the lift/space rental.
