Can cryptocurrency balance be used as proof of funds for a visa application?

Visa types often require a minimum amount of funds to support one’s stay in Japan. Besides a regular bank or PayPal statement, are there any other types of statements accepted for visa applications?

For instance, would statements from Coinbase, Binance, or Kraken be accepted? Can crypto funds stored on a self-custodial wallet be considered? | imagine just a screenshot would not be enough.

Thanks for the help guys.

    Absolutely not.

For the common visa applications where proof of financial support is required the ***only*** option is cash in the bank. They won’t even accept traditional investment accounts, much less something as volatile as crypto.

For the Designated activities (Long Stay for sightseeing and recreation) (AKA: “rich person”) visa they’re a bit more flexible with what they’ll accept as proof of funding, but even then crypto is almost certainly not an option.
