Has anyone living OUTSIDE of Japan had any luck or experience with applying to the hotel/hospitality jobs you find on the job hunting sites? I’ve been working in hospitality/security (concert security with event security certificate), and i’ll be working here for at least 2 more years and i’d prefer applying to a hospitality position in Japan once i finish my degree, rather than going the English teaching route. Has anyone had any experience with those job openings?
Quick edit: Yes i know i’ll have to learn Japanese, and i’ll be doing that over the coming years too. Don’t worry.

if you’re eligible for WHV it’s very easy to get this kind of job, which *can* lead to a permanent placement. otherwise they’ll just go for people with WHV unless you qualify for a managerial role.
commonly seen in resort towns popular with expats, think niseko or hakuba.
When I worked in a hostel it was because I was in Japan on a ryugaku visa attending a language school. Several other of the full-time foreign workers had entered the country as a Japanese language student and found their jobs after they graduated. It’s definitely easier to find employment while already in Japan than from outside.
I don’t know your exact circumstances but something to consider if you’re able to!
