My company asked me to show evidence of marriage. I am wondering if I can find that on 住民票? My last copy didn’t have any dependents, didn’t mention anyone else’s name and made my status as 世帯主.
Better ask your company what proof of marriage they require. They might want a koseki or a marriage certificate specifically.
To answer your question directly:
Yes, the juminhyo might contain that information. Are you and your partner on the same household register? If you get a full juminhyo listing all members and additionally ask for the relationship (続柄)field to be filled, your partner will be shown as 妻 or 夫. Ask your company if that satisfies their requirements.
Alternatively, is your partner Japanese? If yes, ask them for a copy of their family register (koseki) listing you as a spouse. Otherwise, get a copy of your marriage certificate from your country’s embassy here in Japan.
If you married in Japan, you should have received a marriage certificate. But you can print all household members on a juminhyo and it’ll list their relationship to the head of household.
I was requested something similar by the BOE I work for, if I remember correctly what I did was basically just requested a 住民票 with a list of the family members that live with me included.
Note that it *technically* doesn’t show if you’re actually married, it shows if you live with others. So, you could still be married but not living with your spouse.
