My beard has been annoying me forever and I finally wanna get it lasered in a proper clinic (医療脱毛). Ive been seeing a lot of ads recently and having so much choice is honestly kinda confusing. Some popular places also seem to have some bad reviews which can be worrying.
Having read a lot of reviews etc in Japanese now Im looking for recommendations from foreigners, especially other caucasians who did laser hair removal. My skin is very pale, hair doesnt seem to be too thick but thanks to my paleness its visible even after shaving (青ヒゲ).
From previous threads and research I think the best places to go would be Gorilla Clinic, Mens Rise or Shonan Beauty Clinic but Im open to reviews and suggestions!
I can speak Japanese so language isnt an issue, Ive heard some clinics rejected people based on that.

I tried to get rid of the neckbears hair at men’s TBC. It was useless. Laser pretty much had zero impact.
The permanent electrical needle thing did work but the small area they sampled would my skin (luckily it was a very small sample) also they need to take the hair one by one, it takes a while and it’s painful as hell.
Note I have rather thick hair.
It had good ratings on Japanese website, so not sure if it’s a them issue.
Azabu Skin clinic is good.
I’ve heard Gorilla clinic also uses the gentleman pro, so they’re probably similarly good.
I had a thick beard and could only shave once or twice a week, so I often looked like a homeless person. So I decided to do the the medical grade laser treatment for 1 year, my objective was not having to shave anymore.
The laser worked, but it didn’t remove everything, I still have some patches left. That means now I have to shave everyday, or I’ll look like a stray dog. On the positive side, it’s much easier to shave now.
I regret doing it, it was too expensive, painful and the result is not what I expected. They also canceled one of my appointments for being a few minutes late, and I had come from so far.
I went to an electrolysis salon to try to remove the remaining patches, I tried their “5 minute trial”. It was so ineffective and overpriced (even more than the laser) that I decided not to go through with it. They even charged me for the trial.
Please don’t ask me for the name of the places, I won’t tell. I just wanted to share my experience.
