Visa Question, but maybe not so complex I need a lawyer nor so urgent…I’m thinking others have likely done this so checking:
Resident Work Visa: Instructor (work in high school).
Permission to Engage in Other activities: Humanities (work in an Eikaiwa).
Visa renewal will be in May 2024.
I want to quit the main job (high school) on November 1. The place is a hot mess. I will continue the Eikaiwa PT gig. They also said I can take on more hours as of January 1 (another teacher leaving).
Queries:
From what I see, if people lose/quit their job, they have up to 90 days to find a new job…
And I already have permission to teach PT @ Eikaiwa…
Can I just continue my PT at the Eikaiwa for now, taking some “mental break time” for November & December and then in December, go to immigration and turn in “Application to Change Status of Residence) to change to a main category of Humanities as of January 1?
\*\*\*I already pay my own health insurance, pension, resident tax. That is NOT handled through my workplace.
Its a bit of a word question but the TLDR is “Can I quit a job and wait a couple months to change main resident category while I continue to work PT at my side-category, which I do have permission for?”
