Not a direct answer but may shed some light… For a year I relied on the kombini barcodes from the app to make monthly payments. As I only open the app once a month, while in country it was business as usual. however, during a trip overseas I could not issue OTP (Japanese number + roaming) so could not issue the barcode and missed a payment. not wanting it to happen again, I set up auto withdrawal and had no problems ever since
