  1. Cuba makes a lotion that seems promising, not sure if available here through third parties, search for Melagenina Plus.

  2. For anyone who doesn’t know what it is. I had to look it up.

Vitiligo (vit-ih-LIE-go) is a disease that causes loss of skin color in patches. The discolored areas usually get bigger with time. The condition can affect the skin on any part of the body. It can also affect hair and the inside of the mouth.

  3. I mean I’ve gone to a dermatologist several times for a few skin conditions and it’s only cost me like max 3000¥ + medication but I’m not sure if vitiligo is well known here. It’s pretty rare in general.

So at least you know if you go you won’t be breaking the bank and they might be able to refer you to someone who knows more

  4. I have post inflammatory vitiligo. My oldest son has it too. I visit a dermatologist who treats me for this and my eczema. Usually I just get creams to stop inflammation on my skin when I get a flare up.
The doctor only treats the thing that causes my vitiligo but does not treat the patches themselves as it is not medically necessary under NIH.

I am very pale and do not have any patches on face so if I want something to even out my skin tone I would have to go private. My older son has a darker skin tone and his vitiligo patches are usually noticeable in summer when he tans. Currently, the doctor will only treat the cause not the patches themselves because he is a child. But, I think when he is older, there might be something under NIH he can get to help even out the patches because they are noticeable.

If you want treatment on NIH, it is usually only for patches on the face
