Six month limit for unaccompanied luggage

I’ve messed up a bit and the stuff from my move will not be here before six months after I immigrated, so it seems I cannot use the “Domestic Shipment” declaration.

Is there a way around this, like a petition process, or can I take a trip abroad and then import my household items (which are very clearly that — mostly twenty years old band T-shirts and niche interest books that are out of print)?

  2. I also screwed this up and am fucked. No choice but to ship everything as parcels or get a container. No way around it from what I’ve seen. I’ve been searching.

  3. According to Japan Customs [FAQ 7102](https://www.customs.go.jp/english/c-answer_e/keitaibetsuso/7102_e.htm), “Articles which can be cleared as unaccompanied articles, are limited, in principle, to those clearable at Customs within 6 months from the sender’s entry (arrival in Japan).” Those words “in principle” make it seem like there might be a possibility. It’s a long shot for sure, but should be worth your time to make a phone call to Customs to see whether (or not) there can be any flexibility for your situation.

At the bottom of FAQ 7102 it gives a link for inquiries.
