can you still renew a student commuter pass (suica) if you add it to apple wallet?

hi all! i just paid for my student commuter pass today (3 months for the time being) and was wondering if renewal would still work okay if i added it to my apple wallet for convenience’s sake. i’ve heard that you can renew a regular commuter pass through the app, but is it the same case with a student one, or would i have to do it in person again? similarly, i’ve heard that adding it to your phone stops the physical card from working, would that cause any problems? sorry if this is obvious, i’m just having trouble wrapping my head around the info i have managed to find.
