  1. I’m not really complaining because I’m hardly upset over it but I’d be genuinely interested to know how they justify raising the price for this. Like how does a lack of wheat and oil affect a fucking written test association?
If anything maybe it covers raising the salaries of staff or maybe some sort of bill/insurance they have to pay but it seems a bit cheeky. It’s like they’ve seen everything else go up in price so they’re like ‘us too us too!’ and keep shifting it up slightly

  2. Still on the fence on whether I try N1 this time or try securing N2 which I just failed but am kind of tired of now… Any advice from someone who’s been there?

  3. Is N3 worth it? It doesn’t really seem to have much of a point, my eventual goal is N2 and hopefully N1, but would it be recommended to go for N3 in order to accomplish that, or just hit the books hard and go for N2 next summer?

Context: I live in Japan, passed N4 last December, then stopped taking Japanese classes in March in order to start working full time.

  4. 7500 yen, huh. I guarantee the people making the test didn’t get a raise, so why does the price of that need to go up too? 🤔

  5. 7500 for some random obasan to mumble instructions and shitty classroom conditions lol

Good thing I got this test 2 years ago

  6. It’s more expensive across the board for other countries as well. It is now $100 USD in America and $85 CAD for Canadians.

  7. Barely passed the N3 a year ago, N2 practice problems are confusing, but if I don’t sign up I probably won’t study hard enough 😅

  8. Did surprisingly well at N3 last year, trying N2 this year…I don’t feel nearly conversational enough but after I told my N3 score to my friends they were all “man you shoulda just gone for 2.”

Let’s see just how humbling the gap really is, I guess.

  9. Was signing up for the first time in four or five years to finally get N1 out of the way, noped out after I saw the new and improved price.

  10. Question for N1-certified folks: Do you recommend working up from N5, or to go heavy metal on N1 test prep?

context: I’m thinking about N3 (already passed N5 and N4.)
