Hi guys!
I’m a bit of in trouble, cause I would need a japanese women writer who was active in the Meiji period and wrote a novel in the Meiji era (which is at least 120 pages long)… do you have any suggestions who would be a good option? I tried searching on google, but I mainly found women writers who were born in the late Meiji period. I would need someone who was in the same/almost the same generation as Natsume Souseki.
In my thesis work I would examine japanese female charcters sentences both in Meiji-era works and contemporary japanese works.

Before Soseki (1890s): https://www.britannica.com/biography/Higuchi-Ichiyo
Look into the Bluestocking magazine: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluestocking_(magazine)
It was first published in 1911, so it overlaps with the end of Soseki’s career. You could probably use that to locate women writers of that era and then see what else they had written around that time. Not a perfect answer, but a jumping off point.
