  1. ~~He didn’t make the Top 10, for the time period of **last July to this June**~~

    ~~His G1 win counts for next year’s rankings.~~

~~Let’s calm down on the hyperbole here~~

~~EDIT TO ADD: Unless someone can prove me wrong, the PWI 500 for 2023 has not been released in full, *just the Top 10*. OP is being purposely misleading with the thread title~~

Nope, eat shit Char. I’m wrong as hell.

  2. Has to be a huge fuck up. This G1 win doesn’t count and maybe the last period wasn’t his strongest but still. I think it’s just a mistake

  3. So? The PWI has never been legitimate, it was a kayfabe WCW award for a while. Literally meaningless.

  4. American marks and denial about Naito being the best wrestler in the world. Most iconic duo.

Even in kayfabe, not making the top 500 after retiring Mutoh in a Tokyo Dome main event is absurd.

  5. The top 500 is out. Naito did not make the top 500 . This is almost certainly an error on their part.

  6. NJPW wrestlers in the top 50 are: Okada (7), Sanada (11), Ospreay (17), Takahashi (27), Sabre Jr (36), Kenta (40), Tanahashi (42), Nagata (44).

  7. We go over this every year.

The list is not only kayfabe but the period ends long before the list is released. It’s almost a year behind, every year.

  8. Not making a kayfabe list? Oh noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  9. Eh, it’s a meaningless Kayfabe award. Naito will cry with his merch sales and being hand-picked by Muto for his retirement cuz he’s a draw

  10. PWI was just a WWE awards magazine. Still is but they give some to AEW too now. So it’s mostly North American wrestling biased

  11. I’m pretty sure a local wrestler I’ve talked to mv young is on this list. Therefore mv young >>> naito

  12. PWI has mentioned this was an accidental omission, and not intentionl. Still, this list looks like ChatGPT made it based off of Google serps. 2023 is the year brands say “hold my bud light” in killing their own credibility.

  13. That list is fraudulent AF. Didn’t they rank Jon Mosley as the best wrestler in the world a few years ago?

  14. So when people say it’s kayfabe does that mean it’s based on the wrestlers accomplishments and win/ lose record and not their general match performance? Like is 10, 5 star loses better or worse then 10, 3 star wins?

  15. Even though its bullshit because he’s been stellar all year, I tend to not get mad because it’s kayfabe.

  16. It’s impossible to follow closely enough 500+ wrestlers a year to make a list like that anyway. It means nothing.

  17. No wonder all his team mates are leaving him. He’s about to drop the Case to EVIL once Hiromu turns on him and they have their 1v1 match at WK

  18. I think this is the year the list really starts to lose credibility (if it hasn’t already) some really bizzare takes if you look through it and glaringly obvious American bias (American product specifically as opposed to American wrestlers), in my opinion atleast
