osaka->magome -> tsumago -> narai -> tokyo.

leaving for a trip soon but was so busy with work i couldn’t plan much beyond accommodation. 🙁

appreciate any thoughts on the best rail passes i shld be getting for this trip 17-25 Sep. should i be reserving my seats to avoid being caught without a train ticket?? (should i get icoca? kansai thru pass?)

also, any thoughts on itinerary wld be much appreciated!

Osaka castle 9am-5pm 90min duration
Meet osaka friends dinner 5pm, leave by 4pm from osaka castle to meet them at Takatsuki-高规 station

Day 2
18 Sep
Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan 10am-8pm 3-4h
Namba (Dotonbori) + Shinsaibashi 5-6h
Harukas 300 obs deck 9am-10pm 1-2h

Day 3
19 Sep
Universal Studios Japan – Harry Potter

Day 4
20 Sep
Cup Noodles Museum
Minoo park/hiking
Or
Day-trip to Kyoto/Nara

Visit Nara Park and see the famous deer
Explore Todai-ji Temple and its Great Buddha statue

Day 5
21 Sep

Nakasendo trail (See J Rail Pass guide)
Day hike: Magome to Tsumago town (1hr 45 mins)
Return trip (go back to hotel)

Day 6
22 Sep
Nakasendo trail
(TBD) Hike more and forward luggage or leave from town

After Day 6 we’d start making our way up to Tokyo.

  1. Magome to Tsumago can be done in half a day, and there’s not much to see outside of that. I’d recommend staying the night in Nagoya since it’s pretty close, and on the way to Tokyo
