where to find cheap ear/headphones?

so, yesterday my earphones broke after providing months of wonderful music listening experience. they were pretty cheap, but honestly that’s good for me. the only requirement they should have is to let me listen to music. now I’m gonna go on a trip starting tomorrow so I would really love to have a pair of new earphones by then. of course I can go to the nearest electronics store and buy a pair, but I was wondering if someone knew stores where they sell them cheaper? I’m on a budget so I just want to get the cheapest ones I can get around here

  1. Yea, in a pinch, Konbini earphones work. They’ve usually got a few price points from the mega cheap 800 jpy to like 3-4000 yennies.

  2. I like the Sony cheap colorful ones (1200yen) From a store like Ks denki way more than combini, I always swear I can hear a difference.

  3. Any 100yen shop will hook you up, if you don’t care about audio quality. At this level you really do get what you pay for, in both physical and audio quality. Don’t expect them to last long.

Best thing you can do is go to a nearby electronics store or don quijote (aka “donkey”) and find something in the 1000en to 2000en range from JVC or Audio Techica. The difference will be huge.

  4. What’s cheap to you? For some people ¥10,000 would be cheap. For some no more than ¥1500 would be cheap.

I’ve seen earphones for ¥2000 or less at 3coins, village vanguard has a selection of cheap earphones, the conbini or apparently the ¥100 shop have cheap ones.

Personally though, I did the whole buying cheap earphones thing for a while but they broke after only a few months (which seems to be the same thing in your case, since you say “months of wonderful musical listening experience”) but then my husband gifted me ~¥10,000 ones which lasted over 2 years of literally listening for hours a day (my job let me listen to music or podcasts almost constantly and I also had a baby born during their lifetime where I’d nurse her and sit and listen to something using the earphones for hours a day, and also used them while she was sleeping) until one of them broke. They also had a 3 year warranty so I was able to get another pair of earphones slightly over ¥10,000 and just paid the difference. I’m assuming they’ll also last at least 2 more years so it genuinely might be more cost effective to buy a better pair and get a warranty and have years of use vs to keep buying ones for a few thousand or hundred yen every few weeks or months.

  5. For corded headphones, you can get them from just about anywhere. 100 yen shop, 300 yen shop, convenience stores (very expensive), I’ve even seen them in some supermarkets near the batteries.

Do not buy the super cheap Bluetooth headphones at the 100 yen shops. I’ve tried them and they are garbage. If you’re looking for cheap Bluetooth headphones, Donki is your best bet. I bought some for 2 or 3 thousand yen that were pretty good.
