  2. Interesting that they would look to foreigners to fill positions they inherently don’t have the qualifications to fill (specific drivers licenses)

  3. Guess who’s been driving taxis in every major US city for the past 25-30 years (besides underemployed PhDs).

  4. I’ve heard of those gigs. They pretty much give these guys the shittiest schedule and pay and they just take it because their visa depends on it.

    It’s a shit show.

  5. Let’s not pretend this is something new. There are some foregneirs working as taxi drivers here and there, recently I read a topic about it on japanlife and I also remember an old story about an overqualified brazilian taxi driver in Okinawa (maybe?)

    There are plenty of foreigners driving trucks/private busses. I see a ton of south americans doing those and occasionally some middle eastern guys.
