Hi! Would like to seek some advice on getting to Ochia-juku or ideally directly to the ishi datami (stone pavement) to start my walk please. Most advice I find online are about getting to Magome directly.
Options:
1. Taxi – this would be best as we don’t have to wait for the bus. Are taxis easy to get at Nakatsugawa station? What are the estimated costs? Can the taxi stop near ishi datami (or are there no roads there for vehicles?)
2. Bus – I understand that the bus (Magome line) stops at ochiai, is this ochiai or ochiai-juku? Is there a stop nearer to ishi datami and is this stop easy to identify?
3. Train to ochiaigawa from Nakatsugawa station – based on train schedules this seems like an hourly train but it doesn’t seem too near to ochiai-juku, if you’ve done this before, would you advise it? Since most people recommend the bus, I presume this is not the best option. Nonetheless, an option if the two above don’t work out
Finally would we be missing out if we go directly to ishi datami rather than starting at ochiai-juku?
