**Oct. 3 – Kyoto Day #1 | Northern Higashiyama Region**

* **7:00am:** Nanzenji Temple
* 20 min bus from hotel or 30 min walk. Can also rent electric bike
* **Optional:** Murin-an Villa walled Garden
* just down the hill from Nanzen-ji Temple
* **8:00am:** Booked Hyotei Breakfast
* 10 min walk from temple above
* $60-80 per person
* **9:30am:** Ginkaku-ji
* Mt. Daimonji climb
* 1 hour hike

* **11:30pm** Go to Philosopher’s path area
* 12 min walk from temple above
* **1:00pm** Kinkaku-ji Temple
* 25 min Taxi or 50 min train
* **2:00pm** Ryoan-ji Temple
* 20-minute walk or 5-minute bus ride from Kinkaku-ji Temple
* **4:00pm** \- Back to hotel – shower

**Oct. 4 – Kyoto Day #2 | Southern Kyoto**

* **7:30am**: Fushimi Inari
* JR Nara Line from Kyoto railway station
* 30 min bus from hotel – Leave at 7am
* Hike / walk 2-3 hours
* Bring hiking gear
* 5km (3 miles) round trip, 3 hours, easy to moderate. The route begins behind the shrine’s main buildings and winds up the wooded slopes of sacred Mt. Inari.

* 15 min walk from above
* **12:00pm:** Post- hike Sake in Fushimi sake district

* **2:30pm:** Kiyomizu-Dera
* 23 min walk from above or 14 min taxi
* Walk to Ninenzaka and check out hand crafted paved road and shops
* Walk Gion Area and grab lunch
* Check Shirakawa/Tatsumi Bridge
* **5:30pm** BOOKING: Geisha (Maiko) Tea Ceremony & Show in Kyoto Gion Kiyomizu

* Make sure to see Tenryu-ji Temple, Okochi-Sanso Villa, Otagi Nenbutsu-J, Gioji Temple
* Back to hotel and bullet train to Tokyo

  1. iirc Nanzenji opens around 9am, in any case it seems very ambitious to see a temple and a gardens in an hour before breakfast?

    Murin-an is only worth it on the free day (28th of each month for people under 35)
